Talk That Talk...

Thanks to a little help from a few tweeps i decided on this little outfit for Saturday night

Dress : Ebay Outlet - Chain : Ebay Outlet -  Boots : New Look
 Socks and Bracelet: Forever 21
Saturday rolled round and i had a date with two lovely ladies @PriyaMulji and @Jyojo_B on the cards. The plan was a big old gossip over dinner & drinks in london. In reality we ended up chatting away like a bunch of old women in front of the tv and time just flew by, before we knew it we'd rambled our way through Xfactor and realised we probably weren't headed anywhere soon. Sometimes you just need a chilled out night with wine, food and fab company, and for a lady who's usually dancing till the early hours every weekend it was a welcome change. (erm sorry for the random blurr in the last pic i was trying to get rid of an weird mark that came up in the shot & failed).

I found this dress when trawling ebay and it's basically the same dress as seen on many other sites but about £5 cheaper. The necklace is also an ebay retailer find. I've been searching for cross style long chain for a while but none really caught my eye, so when i saw this black & gold beauty ( as you all know i'm kind of obsessed with that combo) for a couple of ££s i clicked on 'buy it now' rather quickly. I'll probably team this dress with a jumper & use it again over the coming weeks as seen in this post.

Got another manic week of overtime & doctors appts but hoping to get a couple of posts completed this week, including another 'geek chic' post as my WIWT look got a lot of twitter love :).
In other news i'll be singing my heart out to Rhiannas album like a pro. #Obsessed

Yuki & Miwa Press Event

Last week i was invited along to the Yuki and Miwa christmas press evening held in London. The premise of the event was to introduce us to the more recent styles of the Yuki brand, whilst showcasing the newer Miwa collection. I had come across Yuki before when on a few of my many shopping escapades, but to be honest hadn't spent too much time really looking through the collection so this event was a great way to find out more.

I arrived with my fellow blogger loveforfashion and we were given a run through of the recent Yuki pieces which included some lovely coats, knits and tunics.
I took a few snaps of my favourite pieces......

The influence of Japanase and Korean fashion is plain to see ( both cultures from part of the designers background) and these are the kind of pieces i tend to only find when on my travels to the far east.
We were also treated to some amazing cupcakes , festive bites and mojitos ( yep i was in heaven).

And to round off a fabulous evening i opened up a bag of treats once home. A big thanks to all the Yuki Tokyo team for a lovely event and an early christmas treat!

Like what you see? Head over to YukiTokyo for a peak at the collection in full
Oh and use MKAUR152011 at the checkout for 15% off any full price items :)

Marry The Night...

Another creation from my maxi dreamland...( my aunt is one amazing lady!)

Personal Collection Maxi - New Look Socks & Boots -
Topshop Scallop Edge Top - Forever 21 Headband
-
I've been after one of these 'mullet' style maxi skirts for a while ( yes i think i just made this name up ) but i had a few issues : they were always a little too short on my 5'8 frame , a tad too pricey and never high-waisted (we all know how much i adore my high-waisted skirts). So i decided i'd simply make my own. Opting to try a black version for starters my aunt got her sewing machine out and made sure i had my outfit for Saturday nights affair, yep she's an absolute gem! After the learning the basics in the summer i'm hoping to perfect my skills over the festive season ending up with a maxi treasure chest of treats.

I knew i wanted to go for a not curly yet not quite straightened hairstyle and with the fringe needing a major trim i opted for a centre parting. I've not sported one since i was about 14 but i kinda like it, especially with the jewelled band. Though i am off to get a new one chopped in this week, let's hope it doesn't go wrong.

Off to the Yuki and Miwa christmas press event tomorrow which should be a nice little start to the festive season and i'll be sure to blog all about it later in the week, along with my Glossybox review and the first of some christmas party outfit posts.

Boy Meets Girl...

I'm a sucker for a good old reunion & so i couldn't ignore saturday nights invitation...

Select Blouse - New Look Trousers - Leopard Wedges

Saturday night saw me being reunited with some lovely ladies i met during my party filled evenings at uni. Though we weren't at the same campus we formed a random friendship ( aided by the fact my lovely lady lucy in the centre is an old school chum) and so it's always nice to catch up over a few drinks.

I opted for a boy meets girl / androgynous look ( there's so many ways to say masculine influenced atm ). Once again i was head to toe in all black with hints of gold, finished off with my leopard print wedges. I'm personally a big fan of this trend simply because think it's cute to mix up strong tailered pieces with femine touches. Initially teaming the look with a pair of shorts I changed my mind at the last minute.

I've recently invested in a cute bow tie and a lace shirt which i'm hoping to team together at some point over the festive season. Sounds a bit random i know but i've tried it and i think it looks pretty cute, though it'll be teamed with a pair of tailored shorts. Not wanting to look like an actual bloke anytime soon! With my work attire having to remain pretty 'corporate' i'm seeking ways to bring a little bit of high fashion & glamour into my outfits. Thus far bright shirts and loafers have served me well but i want to mix it up a little more. We'll see how well that goes down....

Sometimes I Get A Good Feeling...

Miss Selfridge Blouse - H&M Leather Shorts - New Look Glitter Socks -
Ebay Wedges - Asos Faux Fur

Saturday night once was once again filled with the usual antics, this time we were headed into London for a night of fun and i had the company of favourite northern lass who was down for the weekend.  Along with my 'twin' ( below) and the usual lads we had a rather fabulous night on the town , ending with a falafel wrap ( yes highly random but actually rather nice!) and a crawl into bed just praying the birds would quit chirping & allow me to sleep!

The faux fur was a sneaky purchase from the wonder that is ASOS. Over the past year or so i had fallen out of love with the site but in the past couple of months my addiction is back in full force...uh oh. Every sunday they have a flash sale for a couple of hours relating to certain items. A couple of weeks ago they had one of these flash sales relating to jackets i picked this beauty up for half price. Happy days!

Only If For A Night...

Cow Vintage Blouse - Topshop Skirt -Miss Selfridge Boots - New Look Socks - Asos  Silver Chain Ring - Topshop Armour Ring & Necklace

So my plans for a quiet friday night in didn't quite go to plan. After a week of work and boredom i was called and told to get ready for a night out and i was secretly rather happy. With a bout 30mins to get ready i spent 20mins simply repeating the words : i have nothing to wear!
I ended up picking out this outfit mainly down to the fact i wanted to sport a boots/sock combo. I love the retro feel of the blouse and opted to focus on a few larger jewelled accessories with an otherwise simple black outfit.

These boots were one of my favourite purchases from the past couple of months but the night ended with me hobbling to our waiting cab home...yep the heel broke! So saturday so me trot on down to Miss Selfridge and explain that i'd worn these 2/3 times max before the break. I must say they were great and gave me a full refund which i'm now looking to invest in another pair of beauts. I just need to hunt down a pair that i actually like, which could be hard as i've managed to build up the biggest list of requirements and i doubt the boots i'm dreaming of even exist. The Topshop Glitters have currently stolen my heart but sadly i fear they're that little bit too high. Hmmm.

Obsessed....

H&M Leather Jacket - Vintage Lacoste Menswear Jumper - Topshop Leggings & Flats -
 Ebay Seller Hat

A little obsessed with hats once again this season and after buying 2 in as many days i'm thinking i need to calm down a little. Once again Ebay served me well & i managed to hunt this little furry beauty down for about £10 , which is a nice little bargain considering some of the prices i've seen on the high street. I think i'm going to give the faux fur jackets a miss this season & so will no doubt be living in this hat and my gorgeous faux fur scarf (click here for that post).

Yesterday a morning down the hospital for a scan, followed by a few odd jobs meant i needed something comfy, warm and simple, so i opted for my oversized jumper from a recent vintage haul, the trusty topshop leggings and a basic leather jacket. Though i'm looking forward to wearing this hat with a more 'dressy' outfit! My mind's created an outfit consisting of tuxedo trousers, heels, a cropped top and a  tonne of jewels.

Hmm wondering what that'll look like in reality? I feel another OOTD coming up...

Mixed Emotions....

River Island Sequin Shorts - Primark Sheer Black Blouse - New Look Boots - Ebay Seller Oversized Clutch & Oversized Leopard Print Scarf

The last week saw the arrival of one my favourite ladies birthdays and so most of the last week has been spent getting together the finishing touches to a gift bag full of birthday treats, preparing an array of outfits and baking a rather impressive birthday cake ( see below for the result of 3 hours of pretty work).  We started the celebrations in Manchester last weekend, shopping & dinner date mid week and then finished off the week with dinner & drinks in London. A mix up & stupid promoters meant we didn't finish the eve together annoying as i was looking forward to a dance with my beaut. I met up with some of my mates mid way through the eve and we finally made it to a dance-floor then our beds come dawn.

Starting the fun in Manchester

Dinner with the birthday babe

What's a birthday without cake?

October's always a bit of a tough month, i won't depress you all with the ins & outs of my life but i've lost two people who played the most important roles in my life, it just happens to be the case that both anniversaries fall within a 10 day time frame. With a few other issues arising that need to be dealt with i've not really found the time to commit to my 3/4 posts per week, but i'll do my best to get back to my 3pw minimum sooner rather than later.

Beat Of My Drum....

Vintage Shirt - Topshop Vest & Skirt - Ebay Wedges

With the cuz  - We are 2 peas in a rather strange pod

This past weekend saw the start of my cousins birthday week ( yep i said week. 7 days of fun is how we roll..mainly as we end up planning too may things for 24 hours to handle). Ahead of a celebrations in London town next weekend and mid week dinner plans, we planned a trip up north to Manchester for a day of shopping and night out on the town for some cocktail filled fun.
The Trafford centre saw us indulge in some retail therapy and cocktails over a late lunch before heading over to our hotel in prep for evenings events. I ended up deciding on a more 'polished' look than normal. I liked the change but must say i did feel a bit 'pretty', though that was probably down to the hair being a sleeker style once again ( big thanks to my cuz for her hair styling skills).

Aside from that i've been trying to keep up with all the runway reports form Paris fashion week and am not ashamed to say i've already planned my SS12 wishlist. The recent random warm weather has definitely got me i the mood for spring and by the looks of things it'l be a another fab season in terms of clothes. Aside from the rain and dreaded snow i'm looking forward to the colder weather, even if it's only to get use out of my boots and cosy knits! Haha i swear we're never happy with the weather!
