The Met Ball 2011

Last night whilst most of us were tucked up in bed after an eventful bank holiday in the sunshine, over in the states there was the little matter of the annual Met Ball. Each and every year this event is seen as the Oscars of .... with the red carpet fashions usually being the most impressive of the year. This year proved that thought to be correct once again with an array of fashion choices, though a few looks would've definitely been better suited to staying on a hanger in a studio somewhere.

Classic Black Meets a Fashion Twist

Black and Gold seemed to be a key theme of the night with many starlets opting for this look.
Beyonce flaunted her fine hourglass figure to perfection in her Emilio Pucci gown. At first glance i wasn't to sure of it but i'm growing fond of it with each view. On anyone else i think it would've been flawed but with her figure, 'Sasha Fierce' attitude and her natural glow it manages to dazzle, not disappoint.
Diane Kruger looked every inch the movie starlet in her Jason Wu thigh split gown. The decision to keep the detailing on top with a simple bottom could be a bit boring but the extreme split just provides that glamour boost. By keeping the base of the top nude it looks classy and not cheap.

All About The Colour

Colour has made an impact all over the catwalk , then the high street and now it's the red carpets turn to have a love affair with a trend that's proving to be the look of Spring Summer 2011. Two of my favourite hollywood starlets worked this look in effortless style , re affirming my love for all that is colour.
Eva Mendes dazzled in a Deep Blue/Purple toned Stella McCartney gown that also worked another fashion trend :Pleats. What could be a shapeless gown on a lady who has an enviable figure, was saved by that fashion favourite : the waistbelt. The simplicity of the Make-up only adds to this looks impact.
Zoe Saldana glowed in Calvin Kleins simple yellow toned gown. Proving you don't have to have any dramatic features when the colour and cut are done correctly. She most definitely resides in my top 3 best dressed of the evening.

Ginnifer Goodwin worked the high-street in this green Topshop creation with a plunging neckline and daring cut out detailing and slit. Managing to make this gown look every inch a designer piece, when i saw it was a creation by my favourite hight street chain i was pleasantly surprised.
Designer Vera Wang looked chic in her mustard ' Chartreuse' flowing gown. Keeping the make-up, hair and accessories simple she allows the dress to make the required understated impact.

Metallic Lovers

Metallic hues were a popular choice last night with many of the attendees.
Sarah Jessica Parker never fails to disappoint once again proving her worth in this simply exquisite Alexander McQueen long sleeved gown. The detailing on this outfit is divine and works perfectly with her figure. I like the fact she went for a simple up-do and slight smoky eye. Nothing to extreme just enough drama to catch our attention.
Gwyneth Paltrow looked every inch the hollywood movie star in this Stella McCartney creation. Again Long sleeved with beaded detail and another trend of the night the 'thigh high slit' I think she's been taking some glamour filled fashion tips from new bestie Beyonce.

Fashion Forward Females

Hailee Steinfeld in Stella McCartney was dressed perfectly for a young teen on a fashion filled red carpet. The outfit of choice is fun, fashion forward yet not too catwalk for a young girl. Throughout the awards season she wowed everyone with her fashion choices and i think we may just have a style icon in the making ..right before our very own eyes. Hats off to her stylist who it may be!
Blake Lively was of course in Chanel Couture and looked like an effortless screen siren. I don't want to like this dress but on her i can't help but fall head over heels. Again proving her ability to work anything and get a grade A in the fashion stakes can this lady do much wrong atm?

Many more pictures will no doubt surface throughout the day hence why i haven't picked my favourite 3 just yet ( Zoe Saldana is a definite on the list though). Who were your favourites of the evening? In my opinion this was one of the nest red carpets the Met Balls seen for a while.
