Buy My Wardrobe

Saturday saw the latest in a set of events under the 'buy my wardrobe’ name. This time around it was the general merchandise event where you could purchase all kinds of varying fashion garments and accessories. But what’s so special about this event? Why go here rather than any boutique in the capital? Well where else will you find designer brands such as jimmy choo, chanel and the like at up to 80% off the rrp. Also the event houses some great little vintage style brands, again not ripping you off in the price stakes. The basic idea is to bring together a number of select fashionistas to sell bits of their stunning designer wardrobes to members of the public. The fashionistas chosen (referred to as the wardrobe mistresses)are a mix of fashion designers & industry insiders who all have wardrobes to die for:

Our wardrobe mistresses are a mix of fashion designers, stylists and industry insiders. Previous wardrobe mistresses have included the likes of Gucci group executive Mimma Viglezio, Ex-Elle publishing director Elaine Foran and TV personality Giselle Morle.’

Back to Saturdays outing. I’d heard of the concept before but never really looked into it properly until recently. I was expecting the ticket prices to be suitable for the high flyers of London and not quite for the average girl about town, but was pleasantly surprised. There were two options available: the standard entry (entry to the event & a cloakroom service) which could be purchased online or at the door itself. Then there was the VIP option (entitling you to early entry, goody bags and more), which was to be purchased before.

Once there you almost felt as though you were part of a secret club. The staircase led you down into a haven of fashion, where you were immediately presented with the chance of trawling through racks upon racks of gorgeous items. Personally the vintage elements were my favourite aspect. Recently vintage fashion has grown in popularity , even though it’s now widely available (with boutiques to high street stores such as topshop stocking vintage pieces) the prices usually leave me empty handed. But at buy my wardrobe the prices were beyond reasonable. I found a stunning embellished trophy jacket at under £30, hello bargain! I’ve been searching for one for what feels like an eternity and they’re usually in excess of £70. Needless to say it shall be the focal point of outfits to come. I wanted to upload a picture of it but i think it'll look better in a in outfit post, so watch this space!I won’t bore you all with the ins and outs of the day, but if you can get down to a future event I’d definitely recommend it for any fashion loving lady. 2011 will bring about similar events catered towards handbags and wedding dresses, so keep an eye out and get yourself along to sample some of the fun!
