Platforms Grey hidden platforms with a lace detailing? Well done to River Island for incorporating this trend with Sports Luxe. At £84.99 they're pricey but a worthwhile investment! Urban outfitters SS11 Lookbook: These stunning peep toe slingback platforms below are perfect for summer and the zip detailing gives them a slight edge. |
SMALL PLEATS I adore this skirt from Topshop for the following reasons : small pleats are soo SS11, the intense deep blue gives a pop of sophisticated colour and the slight sheer element is a twist on the sheer maxi trend of late and it's the on trend Midi length! |
DISCO No surprise that with the nostaligic fashions of the 70's we'd be making a return to another trend influenced by decades gone by. This time its the disco trend. First up is this simple gold shimmer jacket from topshop. Simply put: Understated disco glam. Asos have come up with a great disco style maxi by incorporating the correct material mixed in with the waist embellishement and thigh high slit. Great teamed with high glamour shoes for a D.I.S.C.O on the the town. |
Wide Leg & Flared trousers
Depending on your body shape, you will suit one of these trends more so than the other. As always to make the most of a smaller waist opted for high waisted trousers. Wide legs teamed with heels can give a great illusion of length and the flared style is perfect for making your body look more 'in proportion'.
The Pair above (Topshop) will allow you to encompass both the trouser trend and 70's trend into your look in a flash! Topshop have a great range of trouser at the moment, so if you're stuck check them out.
River island are one of the many high street chains loving 'Palazzo Pants'. Looked at as the staple 70's trouser invest in a pair of these for a authentic 70's look. The ones below (River island), are made in a jersey fabric so should be flattering and comfortable. Plus the grey tone could give you a sports luxe feel.
As well as the pictured styles cheek out this pair from Miss Selfridge
Colour Block Brights Colour , Colour and more Colour! If you want to get noticed & be at the top of the fashion crowd bold brights are the way to go this SS11. Blocking is the key. This Maxi from Asos is stunning and with its high waist detailing ultra flattering for ladies with curves. Team with platform clogs and a clashing crop for a edgy 70's look..( yes i shall be attempting this myself, if i get the funds to purchase this beauty!) The cheapest way to get colour blocking into your wardrobe is to invest in jersey items. This Tops from Topshop is a steal, smart and a great pop of colour. Most retails outlets have good jersey ranges, so go get investing. |
Cork/Rope Heels
Another season brings another shoe trend. We've had the shearling, Clogs and platform all come back into the fashion forefront and now it's the turn of the cork/rope heel. Before you head into a panic the other trends mentioned are still very much in so you don't have to run out and purchase. But to me its great excuse to diversify that already heaving shoe collection! I am a massive fan of Next new shoe collection, both my platform/Clog beauts are from there and i've got to admit they are amongst the comfiest heels i've ever owned. I couldn't lift the relevant images, but follow the link to see what all the fuss is about Next.co.uk/shoesandboots
Skinny Belts
Waist belts have been around an eternity in terms f fashion trends. Remind me of the humble legging, in the fact that they were a ''trend'' that's now found its way on the fashion staples list. This season it's all about the Skinny Belt, waisted or not ,skinny is the word to remember.
So go grab yourself some of these items rest assured you'll be in the elite of the fashion crowd longer than usual. Warning some of the featured items in the past few posts aren't yet in store, so you may need to keep an eye out till the full SS11 ranges flood into stores over the coming weeks xx
